I’ve been working in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I knew early in life that this was the industry for me. Scouring my mother’s beauty drawer on a weekly basis was the first sign!

As a teenager, I began working as a beauty therapist in a local salon, and continued as staple of their team for six years. Eager for a change, I moved into retail where I managed two flagship stores for a major Australian skincare company. It was after a few years of managing staff, analyzing budgets and dissecting the retail aspect of the beauty business that it was time for me to move back into hands-on beauty.

But this time, I craved much more. I wanted to work for myself.

I took the ever-so-terrifying leap of faith — I quit my stable and comfortable job and found a small room to rent inside a medical clinic. After only one year of solo operation, I had grown my customer base so rapidly that it was time to expand. It was time for another terrifying leap into opening the doors to my very own full-service salon with a team of staff. That was the beginning of my thriving salon with a team of 10 amazing beauty therapists, which has now been in operation for seven years.

And you know what? I really had no idea about business when I began.

I knew about budgets and retail; and I knew how to give a great wax and killer massage; but I had to teach myself all the other aspects that come with owning a business.

It’s been a wild ride.

After years of countless business courses and professional development training, I am now confident enough to trust the systems that are in place and allow my business to run effectively without my daily supervision, which gives me the ability to step back and work on other projects that light me up.

And that includes you.

The training I was seeking for myself was disjointed, and much of it didn’t apply to my industry. Plus, how was I supposed to know what training to seek when I didn’t even know what it was I needed to learn?

Customer Service Analysis
